The old debate

Latency numbers
A good 2.4GHz dongle adds roughly the same latency as a wired connection, usually well under a millisecond of difference. Bluetooth, however, is a different story: it is convenient but adds noticeable latency, so it is for work and casual play, not competitive matches.
The battery trade-off
